Please call us at 916-885-0288 to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members!
Dr. Tyler Baum is a two-time graduate from University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Animal science with a minor in psychology as well as a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine with special interests in avian and exotic medicine.
While Dr. Tyler loves seeing all the cats and dogs, his greatest passion is treating pets that are a bit smaller. Some of his favorites include: Guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, exotic birds, reptiles, and yes even the occasional chicken.
Working with animals has always been one of Dr. Tyler’s greatest passions, he carries this love for animals wherever he goes, volunteering abroad in at need communities as well as with wild animal conservation groups in a variety of foreign countries including Nicaragua and South Africa.
When not taking care of Sacramento’s animals, Dr. Tyler can be found either at home with his wife Andrea, and their three kitten fur babies, Toast, Butters and Dr. Professor Stripey Pants, Wine tasting throughout the Northern California wine regions, or out in nature, hiking and working on his photography, some of which can be seen throughout our Hospital.
Dr. Ashley McFarlane went to UC Irvine where she completed her undergraduate degree in Biology before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and starting her veterinary career here at Broadway Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. McFarlane’s interests are in dog and cat medicine, but she also dedicated her time in veterinary school to treating exotic animals and wildlife, including a clinical rotation at the Sacramento Zoo. Her favorite aspects of general practice include behavior, soft tissue surgery, and refining her ultrasound skills, and she hopes to start treating exotic patients soon! She has previously volunteered for SPCA spay/neuter clinics and with the Mercer Veterinary Clinic, providing care for pets of people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.
When she’s not caring for animals, Dr McFarlane can be found reading a book while cuddling with her dog Tobi and cat Kitty Softpaws, rock climbing, birdwatching or camping with her partner Jared, or trying to fit another tomato plant in her 5 square feet of balcony garden in Midtown.
