General Anesthesia

For certain procedures, your pet may need to undergo general anesthesia, which will render them unconscious and free from pain sensations. Many pet owners express concern regarding the administration of general anesthesia to their pets. However, we want to reassure you that contemporary anesthesia methods during pet surgery are typically very safe. To minimize any potential risks, we conduct a thorough physical examination and perform blood tests in advance to identify any hidden health issues. Additionally, we adhere to a detailed anesthetic protocol that includes monitoring vital signs throughout the procedure to ensure the utmost safety for our patients.

We usually initiate general anesthetic procedures by giving a sedative to help your pet relax and alleviate any anxiety and discomfort. Following this, we administer an intravenous medication that induces complete anesthesia and insert a breathing tube into the pet’s trachea (windpipe). To maintain the unconscious state, we provide a gas anesthetic alongside oxygen through the breathing tube.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your pet’s general anesthesia or the upcoming procedure.
