  • Dr. Tyler Baum Veterinarian

Dr. Tyler Baum is a two-time graduate of the University of California, Davis. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minor in Psychology, followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He has special interests in avian and exotic animal medicine.

While Dr. Baum enjoys seeing cats and dogs, his greatest passion is caring for pets that are a bit smaller or more unique. Some of his favorite patients include guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, exotic birds, reptiles, and even the occasional chicken.

Working with animals has always been one of Dr. Baum’s greatest passions. He has carried that love for animals into volunteer work abroad, supporting communities in need and participating in wildlife conservation efforts in several countries, including Nicaragua and South Africa.

When he is not caring for Sacramento’s animals, Dr. Baum can often be found at home with his wife, Andrea, and their three cats, Toast, Butters, and Dr. Professor Stripey Pants. He also enjoys wine tasting throughout Northern California, hiking, exploring nature, and working on his photography, some of which can be seen throughout the hospital.

  • Dr. Pietro Catini Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Pietro Catini completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with an emphasis in livestock and dairy. He then earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA.

After veterinary school, Dr. Catini spent several years in California’s Central Valley practicing dairy medicine. During that time, he continued serving his community by providing mobile small animal services and participating in local SPCA spay and neuter clinics before making his way back to the Greater Sacramento area.

Dr. Catini enjoys working with most creatures big and small. His professional interests include soft tissue surgery and small animal dentistry.

When he is not in the hospital, Dr. Catini can often be found exploring the surrounding wine regions, hiking local trails, or spending time at home with his cats, Black Bean and Avocado.

  • Dr. Ashley McFarlane Veterinarian

Dr. Ashley McFarlane completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at UC Irvine before earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She began her veterinary career here at Broadway Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. McFarlane’s primary interests are in dog and cat medicine, and she also dedicated time during veterinary school to treating exotic animals and wildlife, including a clinical rotation at the Sacramento Zoo. Her favorite areas of general practice include behavior, soft tissue surgery, and refining her ultrasound skills. She hopes to begin treating exotic patients soon.

She has previously volunteered with SPCA spay and neuter clinics and with Mercer Veterinary Clinic, which provides care for the pets of people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

When she is not caring for animals, Dr. McFarlane can often be found reading a book while cuddling with her dog, Tobi, and cat, Kitty Softpaws. She also enjoys rock climbing, birdwatching, camping with her partner, Jared, and trying to fit another tomato plant into her five square feet of balcony garden in Midtown.
